The UNSDGs e-Booklet Cover Design Competition (Submission Closed)

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) e-Booklet Cover Design Competition (the Competition) aims to engage members and the wider community in creating an eye-catching and impactful cover design for the UNSDGs e-Booklet, which is currently under the HKIE's development.  The design is expected to represent the essence of sustainability and the importance of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) advocated by the United Nations (UN).   The Competition is now open for submission until 5pm, 31 December 2024 (Hong Kong Time).

About the UNSDGs e-Booklet

The UNSDGs are a global set of interconnected objectives aimed at eradicating poverty, protecting our planet, ensuring prosperity, and meeting other sustainability challenges.  In line with the HKIE's commitment to sustainability development practices, the e-Booklet is being created to promote and raise awareness of the UNSDGs within the engineering community and beyond.

The e-booklet will discuss Hong Kong engineers' contribution to the UNSDGs.  It will provide interpretations for each of the 17 goals from an engineer's perspective, and showcase exemplar projects and forward-looking technologies to inspire readers who are engineers or from the general public.  This will be an essential resource for knowledge dissemination, fostering a deeper understanding of sustainable development principles among the target audience and inspiring actions.

Objectives of the Competition

  • To generate interest and awareness about the UNSDGs among members and the broader community
  • To create a visually appealing cover design that represents the significance of sustainability and the UNSDGs
  • To foster collaboration between different engineering disciplines, even outreaching to other professionals, to create a cover that integrates different disciplines and showcases how they can work together to achieve the SDGs
  • To motivate young people and students to become more involved in sustainability and engineering, potentially leading to future careers and innovations in these fields
  • To foster active participation and engagement with the HKIE initiatives, especially those related to sustainability
