Dear members
As a means of transparent communication, regular messages such as this keep us all connected and informed about our Institution’s latest developments—handily and efficiently. Hence, my sincere gratitude for your precious time and attention in reading.
As we advance the theme “Grow the Nexus, Link the Links”, we have strengthened our engagement with various stakeholders, including the public, media, and industry partners. Recently, we held a significant media gathering where we connected with major media outlets to establish swift communication channels, a key factor in effectively conveying the HKIE’s professional viewpoints to the public (add journal link).
Building on past efforts, the Engineer Alliance now flourishes as an inspiring initiative aimed at invigorating our outreach strategies and promoting a positive, youthful, and professional image of engineers. Last week marked the launch of its social media campaign, where Alliance members began sharing captivating stories of their engineering journeys. We strongly encourage you to stay engaged by following, commenting, liking, and sharing those posts about them on our Facebook and Instagram platforms!
As for industry engagements, we have cemented a Memorandum of Understanding with The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong, further strengthening our ties within the Greater Bay Area. Furthermore, the recently arranged inclusion of eight HKIE Disciplines in the Property Management Services Authority (PMSA)’s Recognised Professional Bodies list presents new opportunities for our members to contribute their expertise to a field crucial to our society’s well-being.
Our current focus is on reinforcing our advocacy, particularly around sustainability and nurturing the next generation of engineers. We are excited to announce the development of an e-booklet on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), showcasing how engineering can address global challenges. In parallel with content development, we invite your participation in its cover design competition, open to individuals aged 15 and above, with submission open since 8 October 2024.
Additionally, our recently launched “2-min Q&A with Master Engineers” video series endeavours to inspire students with insights from seasoned professionals. The first video is already available on our YouTube channel.
As we continue to roll out these initiatives, I humbly request each of you to lend your invaluable support in shaping a more connected, sustainable, and innovative future for the engineering profession.
Ir Eric MA Siu-cheung President The HKIE
