This is an international paper award organised by The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) to encourage young engineers and researchers aged 35 or below worldwide to develop innovations and technologies, publish their achievements, as well as to promote the engineering profession among the younger generation.
Normally, the awarded and shortlisted papers will be published in the HKIE Transactions (Award Issue) in every December.

The HKIE Best Transactions Paper Prize is an annual award that recognises the most outstanding papers published in the HKIE Transactions. All papers published in HKIE Transactions (except the Award Issue of The HKIE Outstanding Paper Award for Young Engineers/Researchers) will be automatically entered into the annual selection process of the HKIE Best Transactions Paper Prize. For HKIE Best Transactions Paper Prize 2024, papers published in Issues 1 to 3 of Volume 30 will be included for award selection. The selection process of the Prize is rigorous, and papers are evaluated in terms of originality/innovation, clarity and logic of discussion etc by members of the HKIE Transactions Committee and the Transactions International Advisors.
Up to three HKIE Best Transactions Paper Prizes will be given annually. Prizes will be given only if there are outstanding papers which warrant the awards. Each awarded paper will be given a cash prize of HK$5,000. Each awardee will also be awarded a plaque and a certificate. The Panel of Judges reserves the right to withhold any or all of the awards at their absolute discretion.
