The HKIE Transactions Committee is honoured to announce that Prof Carlos W H LO, Professor of the School of Governance and Policy Science at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Director of Centre for Business Sustainability in the Department of Management at the same university, and Dr Kenneth K M LEUNG, Director of Sustainability/Net-Zero Office at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, will be the Guest Editors for the Theme Issue on the topic “Engineering Meets ESG: Technological Innovations for Climate Resilience”. This Theme Issue is set for publication in June 2026. Prospective authors are invited to make a submission to this Theme Issue.
In the wake of COP29, climate resilience has emerged as a central focus in the global ESG agenda. Organisations are increasingly expected to assess and disclose their climate-related risks and opportunities in alignment with evolving international and localised standards, including IFRS S2 in general and HKFRS S2 in particular on Climate-related Disclosures. Encouragingly, many leading companies have already begun publishing Climate Action Reports, signalling a strong market shift toward transparency and sustainability.
This theme issue aims to highlight the pivotal role of engineering in supporting this transition. Technological innovation is essential to building corporate capacity for climate resilience and carbon reduction, and engineers are uniquely positioned to drive this transformation.
We invite high-quality submissions from academics, industry professionals, and ESG practitioners that explore the intersection of engineering and ESG. Contributions may include original research, case studies, and reviews that demonstrate how engineering solutions can address climate challenges and support sustainable development.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following scope:
