(香港,二零一九年五月三十日) 就近日沙田至中環線項目紅磡站擴建部分及其鄰近的建造工程調查委員會的聆訊,香港工程師學會 (下稱「學會」) 會長余錫萬工程師於五月三十日就事件向會員發出會員通訊,其內容如下:

 

各位會員:

 

大家或許有留意到有關調查委員會已於今年五月二十七日開始延伸聆訊。

 

本人正密切關注事件的最新進展,對於公眾廣泛關注的事宜上,會以工程專業角度,將透過聲明作出解說,以釋除公眾疑慮。

 

本人重申,若有學會會員專業行為失當,將採取紀律行動,學會也會繼續以不偏不倚的態度,服務社會及工程專業。

(30 May 2019, Hong Kong) With regard to the recent hearing of the Commission of Inquiry into the Construction Works at and near the Hung Hom Station Extension under the Shatin to Central Link Project, a Message to Members (“Message”) by Ir Ringo S M YU, the President of The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) was delivered to all members of the HKIE on 30 May 2019. The following is the Message:

 

Dear members,

 

You might be aware that the extended hearing of the Commission of Inquiry on the project of Hung Hom Station Extension Work had commenced on Monday, 27 May 2019.

 

I shall keep a close watch on the development and where there are issues causing extensive public concerns, I shall issue statements that would represent what the engineering profession considers correct either to echo the public’s concern or to disquiet those unconstructive and misconceived speculations.

 

I also wish to reiterate that the Institution will take disciplinary actions against those members that had been found professionally misbehaved. The Institution shall remain unbiased serving both the community and the profession.
