香港工程師學會成立50周年金禧晚宴圓滿舉行 同場公布5項學會獎項得主 The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers Grand 50th Annual Dinner Successfully Concluded with Five Prestigious Awards Announced

(香港,2025年4月7日)香港工程師學會(下稱「學會」)於4月3日舉行第50屆金禧晚宴,並向多名傑出會員、典範工程及傳奇工程項目頒發多個獎項。學會非常榮幸邀請到香港特別行政區行政長官李家超先生,大紫荊勳賢,SBS,PDSM,PMSM為主禮嘉賓,與國家人力資源和社會保障部副部長吳秀章先生、中聯辦教育科技部副部長葉水球先生、外交部駐港特派員公署包海斌參贊,以及多位特區政府局長和高級官員蒞臨,與超過1,800名海內外及香港專業團體領導及代表和業界精英共慶50周年金禧。

 

晚宴上,學會會長馬紹祥工程師代表頒發5項學會獎項。陳嘉正博士、工程師及衞炳江教授、工程師獲頒發「名譽資深會員」;戚偉強工程師獲頒「香港工程師學會榮譽大獎」;黃維安工程師獲頒發「會長特設成就獎」;以及鄭湃博士、工程師獲頒發「傑出青年工程師獎」。席上並公布19個「香港工程師學會50周年傳奇大獎–卓越獎」得獎項目,以及當中最具影響力的3個「香港工程師學會50周年傳奇大獎」得獎項目。另外,「東深供水工程」獲頒「典範工程」榮譽,為東江水供港60周年添上別具意義的一筆。

行政長官李家超先生祝賀學會50周年,並認同工程界的重要貢獻:「香港工程界在創新與應用科技領域一直實現突破發展,包括建築信息模型(BIM)、組裝合成建築法(MiC)和數碼分身(Digital Twin)等前沿應用。」他指特區政府重視學會在推動MiC技術普及化發揮的關鍵作用,並欣見近期200多位學會會員通過試點職稱評價,成為香港首批獲得内地職稱的專業人士。他說:「各項發展將進一步推動區域合作,助力香港更好融入國家發展大局。」

「典範工程」榮譽

 

香港多年來舉足輕重的工程項目不勝枚舉,席上,學會公布「東深供水工程」獲頒「典範工程」榮譽。東江水支持着本港的經濟活動及市民日常生活,今年適逢東江水供港60周年,這個榮譽稱號為「東深供水工程」更添意義。

香港工程師學會獎項

 

晚宴上亦頒發了4項重要學會年度獎項,包括名譽資深會員、香港工程師學會榮譽大獎、會長特設成就獎及傑出青年工程師獎。

 

為表揚會員對學會、工程界的貢獻,或於科學及工程領域上的成就,學會每年都會考慮推選個別優秀會員成為「名譽資深會員」。本年度獲選之會員為學會前任會長陳嘉正博士、工程師及香港浸會大學校長衞炳江教授、工程師。

 

香港工程師學會榮譽大獎會頒發予傑出會員,以表彰其在相關專業領域中的卓越成就與貢獻。今年由在鐵路及物業基礎建設領域擁有超過40年經驗的戚偉強工程師獲得。

 

為表揚對學會有特殊貢獻的會員,學會設立了「會長特設成就獎」。本年度獲選之會員為黃維安工程師,其在學會及多個國際工程專業組織擔任不同崗位。

 

為表揚青年工程師在工程專業、社會事務,以及學會會務上的成就及貢獻,學會每年均舉辦「傑出青年工程師獎」。今年的得主是鄭湃博士、工程師,優異獎獲獎者為梁建峰工程師及梁婉婷工程師。

 

香港工程師學會50周年傳奇大獎

 

「香港工程師學會50周年傳奇大獎」旨在表彰過去50年的傑出工程項目、突破性技術,和變革性舉措。多個從1970年代到2010年代、一直延續到現在的重要工程成就對香港及全球工程領域、行業和社會帶來長遠裨益。傳奇大獎分為工業、基建、創新3大類別,評審團從100多個提名項目中,嚴謹選出 19 個優秀項目,再由公眾投票,選出3個最具影響力的工程成果。

 (7 April 2025, Hong Kong) – The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) Grand 50th Annual Dinner was held on 3 April, during which a series of awards were presented to distinguished members, an Exemplary Project, and Legacy Award projects.  The HKIE was greatly honoured to have invited The Honourable John K C Lee, GBM, SBS, PDSM, PMSM, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, as the Principal Guest.  Also attending were Mr Wu Xiuzhang, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People’s Republic of China; Mr Ye Shuiqiu, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Educational, Scientific and Technological Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR; Mr Bao Haibin, Counsellor of The Commissioner’s Office of China’s Foreign Ministry in the HKSAR; and many senior officials of the HKSAR Government, together with over 1,800 leaders and representatives of Hong Kong, mainland, and overseas professional bodies, as well as industry elites, to celebrate the HKIE’s 50th Anniversary.

At the Dinner, Ir Eric Ma, President of the HKIE, officiated the presentation of the five HKIE awards.  The Honorary Fellow title was conferred upon Ir Dr Andrew K C Chan and Ir Prof Alexander P K Wai.  The HKIE Gold Medal was awarded to Ir Stephen W K Chik.  President’s Award was presented to Ir Duncan W O Wong.  Young Engineer of the Year Award went to Ir Dr Zheng Pai.  During the evening, the HKIE also unveiled the 19 Grand Awards and 3 Legacy Awards of the HKIE 50th Anniversary Legacy Award.  Besides, the “Dongjiang–Shenzhen Water Supply Scheme” received a special recognition as an “Exemplary Project”, marking a meaningful tribute to the 60th anniversary of Dongjiang Water Supply to Hong Kong.

 

Chief Executive Mr John Lee congratulated the HKIE on its 50th Anniversary and commended the engineering sector’s important contributions: “Hong Kong’s engineering sector is making remarkable breakthroughs in innovation and applied technologies: from Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) to digital twin and beyond.” He noted that the Government values the HKIE’s role in advancing MiC adoption and welcomes the recent milestone where over 200 HKIE members became the first in Hong Kong to gain professional titles in the GBA under a pilot scheme.  “These developments will further unlock regional opportunities and strengthen Hong Kong’s integration into national development,” Mr Lee said.

Vice Minister of Human Resources and Social Security, Mr Wu Xiuzhang, affirmed the HKIE’s readiness to align Hong Kong’s engineering and construction sector with the nation’s overall development, and to advocate the establishment of the GBA Federation of Engineering Organisations (GFEO).  He also appreciated the HKIE’s active promotion of mutual recognition of professional qualifications between Hong Kong and the Mainland, which has made significant contributions to building a high-calibre talent hub in the GBA.  He remarked: “Over the past 50 years, the HKIE has forged ahead with determination and achieved remarkable success, contributing ‘Hong Kong’s wisdom, China’s approach’ to global engineering standards, while also bearing witness to and participating in Hong Kong’s historical transformations.”

The Recognition “Exemplary Project”

 

Hong Kong has long been home to numerous landmark engineering projects.  At the Dinner, the “Dongjiang–Shenzhen Water Supply Scheme” was conferred the “Exemplary Project” recognition.  Dongjiang water has supported both Hong Kong’s economic activities and daily life; this recognition carries added significance in the year marking the 60th anniversary of water supply from the Mainland to Hong Kong.

The HKIE Awards

 

Four of the Institution’s most prestigious annual awards were also presented during the Dinner: the HKIE Honorary Fellow, the HKIE Gold Medal, President’s Award, and Young Engineer of the Year Award.

 

Every year, individual distinguished members would be potentially elected by the HKIE in recognition of their contributions to the HKIE, the profession, or their achievements in science and engineering.  This year’s elected members are Past President Ir Dr Andrew K C Chan and President of Hong Kong Baptist University Ir Prof Alexander P K Wai.

 

The HKIE Gold Medal is presented to an outstanding member for related professional accomplishments and contributions.  This year’s recipient is Ir Stephen W K Chik, who possesses 40 years of experience in railway and property infrastructure. 

 

President’s Award was established to honour members who have made exceptional contributions to the HKIE.  This year’s elected member is Ir Duncan W O Wong, who has held various roles in the HKIE and international engineering organisations.

 

Young Engineer of the Year Award is organised every year by the HKIE to recognise the achievements and services of young engineers in the engineering profession, in social affairs, and within the HKIE.  This year’s Awardee is Ir Dr Zheng Pai, and the recipients of the Certificates of Merit are Ir Calvin K F Leung and Ir Stephanie Y T Leung.


The HKIE 50th Anniversary Legacy Award

 

The HKIE 50th Anniversary Legacy Award aims to honour outstanding engineering projects, breakthrough technologies, and transformative initiatives over the past 50 years.  These numerous engineering accomplishments, spanning from the 1970s through to the 2010s and beyond, have had a profound and lasting impact on Hong Kong and the global engineering fields, professions, and societies.  The Award was divided into three categories: Industrial, Innovation, and Infrastructure.  From over 100 nominations, 19 outstanding projects were rigorously shortlisted by a professional panel, with the final three projects selected by public vote as being the most impactful.

  • Industrial: Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station: A Key Player in Hong Kong’s Zero-Carbon Power Generating Industry

The engineering profession is indispensable to social progress.  As we fortuitously celebrate the 50th Anniversary and golden jubilee of the HKIE, we hope not only to pay tribute to past projects but also to call upon all engineers to carry the torch forward: to be mindful of and build upon the wisdom and contributions of those who came before, to integrate professional knowledge with innovative technologies, and to continue contributing to Hong Kong’s development.
