Introduction

Each year countless engineers lose out to fellow colleagues in promotion or pay rise exercises, not knowing they are in fact victims of their ineffective English writing ability. The consequences of substandard writing skills to incumbents have often been obliviously underestimated, in particular in the engineering or other technical fields.  This imperfect phenomenon has led to real engineering talents being reaped of development opportunities they deserve because of ineffective English communication, and corporates failing to promote the best candidates they need for the engineering management positions. If you are an engineer not entirely satisfied with your own English writing skills, this workshop is the right place for you.

Objectives

In this workshop, you will work intensively with Max, a Solicitor in Hong Kong with ample teaching experience at tertiary level, to revisit the English linguistics elements vital for effective writing, and to develop effective English writing abilities through practical exercises in class. The ultimate objective is to build up your solid language skills in English writing for your immediate professional needs and for the benefits of your long-term development in the engineering career.
