The objectives of the project are to create space under the “single site, multiple use” model, to support the sustainable development of Sha Tin District, to highlight and enhance the key features of the district, and to showcase the history and uniqueness of the local community. The main scope of the project includes the construction of an elevated 5-a-side soccer pitch over Tai Wai Nullah and an extension structure of about 3m wide and about 70m long to form a boardwalk on the river bank of Shing Mun River. The project also enhances the views of the existing bridges spanning across Shing Mun River with installation of thematic lightings and improved illuminating system. Moreover, the installation of display facilities and feature showcases along the promenade help to link up public facilities and history and predominant attractions in the vicinity of the promenade.
The construction works commenced in 2016 with the facilities and enhancement works completed in stages from 2017 for the use and enjoyment of the general public.
