Chairman's Message
I am very pleased to be the Chairman of the Electrical Division for Session 2008/2009, serving some 3000 members in the electrical engineering industry. It is certainly of no easy task.
Under the able leadership of my predecessors, a wide range of activities including annual symposium, annual dinner, overseas and Mainland technical visits as well as networking, local technical seminars and visits, reaching the teens programme, school technology competition and joint functions with other regions such as ICEE have been established. To promote our image, we have published ¡uEEµ§¼g¡v for students and public audience. Now we are posting our "Electrical Blog" in almost every issue of the Hong Kong Engineer and these messages may serve for the preparation of another publication in the years to come. We shall continue these activities in the coming session.
The Division has built up useful linkages both overseas and in the Mainland through regular technical visits and conferences. In the year ahead, we shall exert more effort with corresponding organisations in the Mainland to conduct visits, talks and seminars to enhance mutual understanding. We shall encourage and facilitate our members to care for the needy both in Hong Kong and the Mainland and further promote the image of electrical engineering industry to the community by active response to social issues. The objective is to bring engineering profession closer to the community and build up the standing of Hong Kong's electrical engineers.
With all these initiatives in mind, we shall have another exciting year and I sincerely pledge for your support and participation in our activities and let us have your views and feedback for the continuous improvement in the quality of our work. We also believe that it is the time for us to invite more members, no matter young or new, to take active role in organising activities. We foresee it will generate new ideas and innovative ways to run the Committee.
