In the 2005/2006 Session, the Division made another record of organizing a total of 44 technical meetings and 30 site visits, with over 3,500 and 900 participants respectively (at an average of 2.75 CPD hours per member). Many of these were jointly organized with other Divisions and professional institutions. They covered almost every aspect in Civil Engineering and included theme talks in information technology, management, legal aspects and the Mainland issues.

To prepare our members in pace with the development of the Mainland, we launched a new Mainland Contact Series in the last Session. Visits to the Mainland projects and meetings with the Mainland government officials were arranged on a regular basis throughout the year, including a visit to the Three Gorges Project.

The Division also maintains a close relationship with the China Civil Engineering Society (CCES). The 2005 Hong Kong Civil and Construction Technology Summer Camp for Youth of Mainland was successfully held, receiving 46 delegates from the CCES. The bi-annual Winter Camp 2006 for the Division's young members to the Mainland this December is under preparation.

To establish a closer link with university students, the Division organizes university talks in HKU, HKUST, HKPU and Chu Hai College of Higher Education, during which Members of the Division shared their valuable experience with their civil engineering students.

The Division Annual Dinner is the highlight of the year. In 2005 we again received over 550 guests, during which the Civil Engineering Paper of the Year Award, the Best Contributing Organizations Award and the Best Reporter Award were presented.
