Introduction to the
Division
The Control, Automation & Instrumentation
Division was founded as one of the learned societies of the HKIE
in 1987. In 1992, the Control, Automation & Instrumentation
Discipline was established.
The Objectives of the Division are:

a)
|
To promote the awareness and the benefit
of Control, Automation and Instrumentation to Hong Kong
Industry;
|
|
b)
|
To introduce new and relevant technologies
in these areas;
|
|
c)
|
To encourage and foster collaboration
amongst members and with professional Institutions/Bodies;
|
|
d)
|
To facilitate the exchange of information
and ideas between professionals working in these areas;
|
|
e)
|
To attract members of the Institution
to join the Division and to encourage members to participate
in the Division functions; and
|
|
f)
|
To provide professional advice to the
HKIE Council.
|
In order to achieve these objectives, the Division
organises programmes combining intellectually interesting and
applications-oriented activities, including seminars, technical
presentations, forums, visits, workshops and symposia.
Currently, there are six interest groups in
the Division,

Technical Visit; |

b) |
Technical Programme; |
|
c) |
Building Automation; |
|
d) |
Quality & Management; |
| e) |
New Technology; and |
| f) |
SCADA / Control. |
The Division represents Hong Kong, China as
a National Member Organisation of the International Federation
of Automatic Control (IFAC).
