Chairman's Message

I am honoured to be elected as the Chairman of Biomedical Division for Session 2008/2009. As our population is aging and their health concern catches the attention, the demand for Biomedical Engineering is rising. Therefore, in order to serve our society better, our Division aims to promote the engineering practice and medical device regulations; to facilitate the exchange of technologies and information in Biomedical Engineering; to enhance our professional development as well as to strengthen the relationship amongst members and other professional institutions.

In the coming year, I will work with our Committee in the following focus areas:

1.	Continuous Professional Development via the on-going PSDAS project and to organise the Biomedical Engineering Conference (BME2008), workshops and seminars;
2.	Update the latest market trend and regulations on medical device;
3.	Promote and enhance our image to the society by participating in community events such as the Innovation Festival 2008;
4.	Work closely with other Divisions/Committees in joint events as well as to develop link with other learned societies for mutual benefits.

I would like to invite all members to actively participate in our coming events and activities in order to contribute to the success of the Division. Member's supports are vital to our programme. Moreover, your voice and suggestions are also essential to us. Your valuable comments are mostly welcome to address to us and would certainly enlighten our Committee to better serve the Division and members. Finally, I would like to thank our members for their continuous supports over the years and we look forward to the prosperity in the coming year.
