Training Secondment

1. Introduction

Requests for Training Secondment during Scheme "A" training period arise when trainees to second by the "parent" organization to another organization, such as an associate company or a sub-contractor.

Such training secondment may be necessary to meet the training requirements. They are further encouraged in situations where trainees could broaden their experience (e.g. design office and site experience) toward the added breadth of Scheme "A" training.

2. Rules of Training Secondment

Requests for Training Secondment are only accepted from the trainee's company/organization, endorsed by the Engineering Supervisor. The maximum period for training secondment should not exceed one-third of the nominal training period.

3. Procedures

Training Secondment proposals should be agreed among the "parent" company, the company to be "seconded", trainee and the HKIE. Such training secondment requests require the HKIE prior approval which will be based on the following requirements:

-
A completed Form TD11 (Scheme "A" - Training Secondment)
-
Any relevant supporting documentation (written agreement between the two companies/organizations)

The HKIE will notify the Engineering Supervisor in writing as to the result of the application after the decision made by the relevant Training Review Sub-Committee.

* For both local or overseas training secondment requests, each request should be presented to the relevant Training Review Sub-Committee for approval and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
