Inaugural Ceremony of the HKIE Student Chapter in PolyU

Dear members

Following the establishment of Student Chapter in the University of Hong Kong in October last year, we are pleased to inform you that the HKIE Student Chapters have been established in the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (HKUST) and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) respectively to facilitate the promotion of engineering profession to our young generation and to foster a spirit of friendly collaboration between the engineering students and the HKIE. The Inaugural Ceremony of the Student Chapter in HKUST was successfully held on 14 May 2008.

To mark the important establishment of the HKIE Student Chapter in PolyU, an Inaugural Ceremony is to be organised and members are invited to attend the Ceremony to share this joyful occasion with the engineering students in PolyU. President Ir Dr LO Wai Kwok will officiate at the Ceremony. Representatives as well as Department Heads of PolyU are also invited to the Ceremony.

For your information, Dean of Faculty of Construction & Land Use Ir Prof TENG Jin Guang will be present at the Ceremony while Assoicate Dean of Faculty of Engineering Ir Prof MAN Hau Chung will be our Guest-of-honour and give a speech at the Ceremony.

You may wish to note that one of the highlights of the ceremony will be the Sharing Session where President Ir Dr Lo and Vice President Ir Reuben Chu will be joining with our invited guests Ir Morris Cheung, Managing Director of Ngong Ping 360 Limited and Ir Humphrey Leung, Group CEO of Solomon Systech Ltd to talk about their recent challenges at work as well as the career development of the engineering profession with the engineering students. Questions are welcome from the floor.
